It’s rare that a technical, streetwear-savvy shoe makes its way into our daily coverage, but when that shoe is created by the brilliant minds at Nike, we throw caution to the wind. As it turns out, the brand has been hard at work formulating a unique utilitarian silhouette for style-minded buyers who want to face the elements with ease. The result? Nike’s weather-ready ISPA Drifter Gator.
On the surface, the ISPA Drifter Gator looks like any other urban-inspired shoe. It boasts a sporty design, a grippy, lugged outsole, and distinct color blocking for increased aesthetic poise. But what makes the Drifter so special is its all-encompassing upper/heel compartment, which houses a deployable, parachute-like layer for protection against dirt, puddles, and rain. To amplify the shoe’s capabilities, Nike has opted to include its specialized ZoomX foam for increased cushioning and support, complementing the Gator’s commuter-conscious design. Head to Nike’s website to learn more about the shoe, which is scheduled to release on October 8th for $220.
