We’re well into summer now, and that means it’s peak season for camping excursions and outdoor music festivals. And if you’re the type of person who loves going off-grid but still prefers to have some creature comforts while doing so, then Czech auto marque ŠKODA has whipped up the perfect vehicle for you.
The automaker’s UK branch has taken ŠKODA’s all-electric ENYAQ iV 80 SUV and created a one-off that might just be the ultimate summer glamping vehicle. Dubbed the ENYAQ iV 80 FestEVal (get it?), the heavily kitted-out crossover has sleeping room for four people, ensuring that you’ll have plenty of company as you follow Phish around on tour. The trunk of the SUV is fitted with a camping box from Czech outdoor outfitter EGOE. Featuring a slide-out design, the box essentially functions as an outdoor kitchen and includes an integrated gas cooker, a collapsible sink with tap and hose, a prep area, and plenty of storage.
A double bed frame, whose cushions are stored on top of the camping box when not in use, takes minutes to set up atop the folded-down rear seats when it’s time to go to sleep. Two more adults can slumber in the rooftop tent, which houses its own ladder inside its streamlined box until needed. The tent features a solar-powered fan, netting storage, and an integrated flashlight. The FestEVal also hides away an easily stowable camping table and chair set, so it’s not like you have to spend all day in the car. The base ENYAQ iV 80 is essentially unchanged and still offers its 8-device WiFi, 8-speaker sound system, and ambient lighting in case you don’t feel like going too far off-grid. Plus, with 338 miles of range between charges, making it to the next show shouldn’t be an issue.
ŠKODA doesn’t seem to have any plans for a production version of the FestEVal, but at the very least, the fun one-off has shown the practicality of turning the ENYAQ iV 80 crossover into a well-appointed EV camper.
