Mercedes-Benz has never once sold a G-Class with a bed, and after axing the X-Class back in 2020, the brand seems perfectly content leaving trucks to everyone else. Brabus, however, doesn’t share that same dilemma. The Bottrop tuner has been building the G-Wagen pickup Stuttgart won’t since 2020. It first started with its portal-axled XLP rigs, and then again with 2022’s 10-unit Rocket pickup. Now that formula returns for a second generation with the all-new Brabus P 900 Rocket Edition.

Frame Surgery, Not a Bed Kit
Let’s be clear, this isn’t some bolt-on conversion. Brabus grafts a bespoke extension module into the G63’s steel ladder frame, stretching the wheelbase by 19.7 inches and relocating the entire rear suspension rearward to match. And all of this happens in addition to sealing off the cabin with a fabricated steel bulkhead.

The bed behind it gets a metal floor, a side-opening tailgate, carbon fiber side walls, a soft-teak deck, and a pair of lockable waterproof storage boxes. All in, the finished truck runs 211.8 inches long, which is nearly two feet beyond a stock G63.

The 900 Half of the Name
And that stretched frame carries a prettty absurd drivetrain too. Brabus bores AMG’s 4.0-liter V8 out to 4.5 liters with forged pistons, a billet crankshaft, and larger turbochargers. This setup is good for 900 horsepower and 922 lb-ft of torque, but the latter is dialed back to 774 lb-ft purely to keep the driveline in one piece.

Channeled through a 9-speed automatic and permanent all-wheel drive, the truck sprints to 62 mph in 3.7 seconds and a governed 149-mph top end. For reference, the standard 577HP G63 needs 4.3 seconds to do the same.

Rocket Red Down to the Lock Pins
Outside, the Rocket Edition Widestar treatment drapes the body in exposed carbon, right down to the aeroblades on its 24-inch Monoblock II EVO forged wheels. Which, we might add, wear Hankook Ventus rubber developed specifically for this truck. RideControl coilovers then drop everything 1.8 inches.

Inside, the upholstery shop went wild with black leather, Alcantara, and shell-pattern quilting, splashing “Rocket Red” across the stitching, switchgear, and anodized door-lock pins. There’s even a blockchain-backed ownership passport embedded in the bed wall via NFC chip.
