Aston Martin made everyone (patiently) wait for the Valhalla. First teased as a concept back in 2019, the brand’s first production mid-engined supercar didn’t even reach its final form until late 2024. And (even more wild), the car didn’t even start landing in customer’s driveways until recently. So, admittedly, we didn’t expect Gaydon to one-up it this quickly. Yet here we are, less than a year into coupe deliveries, staring at the open-cockpit Aston Martin Valhalla Spider.

1,064 Horses, No Headliner
Mechanically, nothing was lost from the beloved coupe. The Spider carries over the coupe’s full plug-in hybrid powertrain, and pairs an 828PS flat-plane-crank 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 (the most potent combustion engine Aston has ever built, at 207 horses per liter) with a trio of electric motors.

Combined output lands at an insane 1,064 horsepower and 811 lb-ft of torque, and it’s a setup that’s good for a 2.5-second run to 62 mph. Top speed? Still 217 mph, whether you spec the optional carbon fiber hardtop or decide you’d rather run no roof at all. The standard stowable fabric top is the lone compromise here though, and caps things at 124 mph.

Faster Topless Than a Valkyrie
The Valkyrie Spider (Aston’s $3 million-plus hypercar,) had to keep its roof panel installed to crack 217 mph. Once you popped it off, the car was held back just a bit to 205 mph.

The Valhalla Spider doesn’t have the same issue, which makes this (not the Valkyrie) the fastest open-cockpit Aston Martin ever built. It’s also the first mid-engined production Aston to go roofless, period.

An F1 Team’s Idea of Fresh Air
Credit the aero homework from Aston Martin Performance Technologies (the F1 team’s consulting arm). A clip-on wind deflector lifts air over the occupants while feeding a reprofiled snorkel that now sits 35mm taller, then folds into three pieces and vanishes into new 15-liter sill compartments.

Both the active aero and stability systems were recalibrated to read roof-on and roof-off conditions, preserving over 1,300 pounds of downforce with the top fitted. Even the dihedral doors got some attention here, and are now completely frameless. Meanwhile, a new carbon fiber Touring Seat comes standard for easier entry (the coupe’s race bucket remains a no-cost option).

Recap
Aston Martin Valhalla Spider
Aston Martin lops the top off its 1,064HP Valhalla to create its first open-cockpit mid-engined supercar, one that still hits 217 mph bareheaded.
