Amidst a range of high-end luxury and dress watches, the Overseas Chronograph is Vacheron Constantin’s sportiest of the bunch. Debuting in 2016, the model has recently said goodbye to a couple of its variants, opening the floor for a new iteration — and arguably the most striking we’ve seen thus far.
Panda dials are having a moment right now. While retro chronographs are in fashion right now, collectors have always seemed to realize that these timepieces are meant to have two colors on the dials. And what better two-tone configuration that the contrast of light and dark? Now, the Swiss watchmaker is getting in on the action with the latest edition of its own popular chronograph model. While a “reverse panda” version already exists, this is the first time we’ve seen a standard panda dial configuration, featuring three black totalizers over a sunray-brushed silvered dial with translucent varnish.
Like previous Overseas Chronographs, this version is powered by the in-house caliber 5200 movement. While the 42.5mm cushion-shaped case and bracelet are made of stainless steel, the cogged bezel and the alternating polish and brushwork of the bracelet lend themselves to appearing decidedly panda-esque in certain lighting conditions. Along with the steel band, black leather and black rubber straps are available as well.
The Overseas Chronograph with the panda dial retails for $32,400. Head over to Vacheron Constantin’s website to find a boutique.
