30 years ago, G-Shock unveiled its ever-so-popular Frogman timepiece, a rugged example that has undoubtedly withstood the test of time. In celebration of its birthday, the brand is churning out a commemorative model of this famous diver… inspired by an actual poison dot frog.
Boasting a multi-color carbon bezel and band spray-painted in polarized ink, this forthcoming release oozes a nearly poisonous appeal as it channels the enigmatic Amazon creature. As expected, it still features all of G-Shock’s quintessential elements, including a rugged Multiband for automatic time adjustments and even Bluetooth compatibility, the latter of which may be the most notable difference between this and the original Master of G example.
Moreover, the Frogman was one of the first models by Master of G, Casio’s outdoor-centric line of G-Shock watches, and this release goes to show how much of an impact it’s had on the brand. In addition to its bombastic re-design and technical capabilities, another mainstay element implemented here is the trusty Tough Solar tech to deliver a surfeit of power supply when spending time outdoors. Lastly, the shock-resistant watch is waterproof as low as 200 meters, which is no surprise accounting for the Master of G lineup.
The 30th-anniversary edition of the Frogman will be available in January for 137,500 (~$1,045) on G-Shock’s webshop.
