Belkin Apple AirTag Holder w/ Key Ring

Best Budget Case: An upscale-looking (but not feeling) AirTag accessory that’s offered at an exceedingly reasonable price, Belkin’s AirTag Holder w/Key Ring is comprised of a polyethylene terephthalate case with a closure that secures it to a circular metal clip that can act as either a key ring or a carabiner. Using a simple two-piece design with a twist-to-lock setup, this affordably-priced AirTag accessory also benefits from raised edges that protect the tracking device and keep it scratch-free. In addition to being sold in packs of 1, 2, or 4, this item is also offered in black, white, blue, or pink color options, as. well. 

Dollar for dollar, the Belkin Airtag Holder undeniably affords some of the best bang for your buck of any model currently on the market. And, while it isn’t quite as durable as some of its more costly AirTag case counterparts, this item is nonetheless rugged enough to keep the tracker fortified when being carried daily. Considering its size, this model also allows you to add a tracking device to your keychain while adding an almost negligible amount of weight and mass. 

Elevation Lab TagVault: Fabric

Best For Fabrics: While most of the other AirTag accessory on this list focus on protection — and as such feature rigid shell constructions — the Elevation Lab TagVault: Fabric uses a soft construction that lets it move and flex with the surface that it’s adhered to. This makes it uniquely ideal for use with bags, jackets, or other clothing or soft goods, as it’s capable of adhering to everything from nylon to vinyl to nylon to GORE-TEX to even rubberized fabrics — though it won’t bond to fibrous fabrics, suede, or leather. Thanks to the fact they’re sold in packs of four (as well as individually and in two-packs), I was able to install several of these into my go-to commuter backpack, riding jacket, and on the interior of the cuff of a pair of gauntlet-style motorcycle gloves. 

Though I don’t think they’re all that significant or severe enough to in anyway outweigh the product’s multitude of strengths, there are some minor downsides to the TagVault: Fabric that are worth be privy to before buying or using one. First starters, while they can be removed, this non-rigid-construction AirTag accessory wasn’t made to be reused. I should also touch on the fact that, while the TagVault: Fabric can be applied in mere seconds and does form a super strong bond, it takes a full 24 hours to reach full adhesion strength. This means you need to be careful about when you chose to install one, as I wouldn’t recommend using an item one of these AirTag accessories is installed in before its adhesion has fully set.

Thanks to its rugged construction and ability to be placed just about anywhere, the Pelican Protector Series Mount for the Apple AirTag lends itself to an enormous range of uses, allowing you to easily track everything from your tech and devices to luggage and bags to car or motorcycle. This area is furthered by this item’s tiny size — which makes it ridiculously easy to hide or conceal. 

NOMAD Card for AirTag

Best Wallet Insert/Wallet Card: NOMAD’s Card For AirTag is a credit card-sized case that’s designed to easily slip into a wallet so you can keep constant tabs on one of the most important EDC essentials. Built around a rugged polycarbonate frame, this item boasts a soft TPU surface that’s been given a thermoformed leather shape. In typical NOMAD fashion, this product is designed to form a unique patina over time with regular use. While it can technically be used with any wallet, I found this AirTag card to pair wonderfully with NOMAD’s Card Wallet Plus — a Horween leather construction bifold wallet with a thermoformed shape and a 16-card capacity. 

Like all NOMAD products, I thoroughly appreicated this card-shaped AirTag holder’s top-shelf fit and finish, thanks to a polycarbonate frame paired with a soft-touch TPU surface. What’s more, the thing’s snap-in AirTag mount geometry is super secure yet makes removing the tracker a breeze. The one downside to this item is that it, when loaded with an Airtag, it’s as thick as ten standard credit cards, which results in it taking up quite a bit of your wallet’s overall real estate. Having said that, this is ultimately due to the thickness of the AirTag itself (which is thicker than the card-shaped holder), so it’s hard to fault NOMAD for this shortcoming. 

Trayvax Tracer AirTag Keychain

Best Tactical Pick: Equal parts rugged, tactical, and EDC-ready, the Trayvax Tracer Airtag Keychain is comprised of a stainless steel exo-skeleton-style housing that uses four screws to secure the tracking device in place. Made in America, this all-alloy item features an integrated loop as well as a built-in pocket clip, allowing its carrier to clip it to their pocket or bag, or carry it on a keychain. Thanks to its exo-skeleton design and rugged stainless steel construction, this item is able to afford impressive levels of protection while adding very little weight or bulk to your everyday carry load-out — with the thing tipping the scales at less than an ounce. 

The use of this largely open, exo-skeleton design also allows the AirTag that it houses to function flawlessly, without interfering with its connection or signal. Upping this model’s versatility is the fact that it can be used by itself, or tethered to a wallet or bag using a lanyard or piece of paracord, enabling you to track other valuables and EDC essentials. The only real downside to this AirTag holder that I noticed during my testing is that its hardware occasionally needs tightening, though aside from that it’s 100% fuss-free. 

NANUK AirTag Holder

Most Versatile: Having the ability to use the same AirTag for a wide range of uses can be a great alternative to purchasing a handful of the little trackers. And I’d argue no one AirTag accessory offers the same level of versatility as the NANUK AirTag Holder. This is because it can be utilized in one of four different methods; sans mount; using the mount attached with the hook and loop adhesive; permanently mounting it using the swath of included high-strength 3M double-sided tape; or mounting it using its included lanyard. 

Even with a myriad of mounting and attachment choices, that’s not enough on its own for me to sign off on this accessory, however, when you couple this with the NANUK AirTag Holder’s rugged stainless steel and ABS construction, it suddenly becomes markedly more list-worthy in my eyes. I also loved that the lanyard allowed me to tie and lash the tracker to a huge variety of places. The included hook and loop adhesive mounting option also allowed it to stick to a huge range of materials ranging from Velcro to wool to certain flannels. 

Spigen Rugged Armor Keychain

Best Airtag Keychain: Just looking at Spigen’s aptly named Rugged Armor case, it’s abundantly clear that this thing offers heavy-duty protection for Apple’s AirTag. Crafted from an amalgamation of stainless steel and zinc alloy, this product’s carabiner features an integrated bottle opener, while the actual AirTag housing is adorned with a decorative carbon fiber inlay. This design not only provides ample protection for the AirTag that it carries, but also manages to bring some additional utility to the table.

Despite costing around $20, this Spigen item boasts a super rugged and solid feel to it, with a super-secure spring-loaded gate that exhibits zero side-to-side play whatsoever. Even the fit and finish on this trackable carabiner is surprisingly high-end. I also appreciated the fact that this model sees its actual AirTag holder mated to its carabiner via a nylon tether that can be unsnapped, allowing the carabiner or AirTag case to be used individually. Bolstering its versatility — and value —  is the fact that the Spigen Rugged Armor Keychain can double as an EDC keychain, as its AirTag holder can very easily be swapped out for a keyring. 

Pelican Marine Waterproof AirTag Carabiner Case

Best Waterproof Case: Pelican has been producing ultra-rugged hard cases since 1981, and the firm’s Marine Waterproof AirTag Carabiner Case sees it apply many of the best characteristics of its crushproof case designs to a an insanely durable vessel for fortifying your Apple tracking device. Part of the brand’s Outdoor Collection,  the Pelican Marine Waterproof AirTag Carabiner Case is crafted from a plastic hard shell that’s been fitted with an inlay made from Aramid carbon fiber. Comprising the case’s hardware are four screws that can be removed in order to open up this two-piece AirTag vessel in order to reveal its interior rubber impact bumpers. 

On top of boasting angled sides that bolster protection from impacts and drops, the exterior case also affords this AirTag holder an impressive IP68 rating — meaning it can be fully submerged in up to 3.3’ of water for up to half-an-hour. The inclusion of an integrated ring in the case also lets this case provide a myriad of carrying options, many of which are afforded via the case’s included carabiner — though it’s also sold in a loop-free sticker mount version. While I didn’t perform any crush or impact tests when getting hands-on with this AirTag holder, I feel extremely confident when I say that, between its immense waterproofing and ample durability, this Pelican product is almost certainly the most hardwearing model on this list — and probably by a pretty decent margin, too. 

Nine Twenty Eight Metal AirTag Holder

Best Designed Pick: Something of a masterclass in understated design, the Nine Twenty Eight Metal AirTag Holder is minimalistic two-piece alloy housing that mates together to provide lightweight yet durable protection for your AirTag. Not only is this item crafted from aluminum, but it’s also offered in black, silver, or space gray color options, all of which sport a multi-directional brushed finish — a motif that perfectly matches the aluminum construction and multi-brush finish found on Apple’s laptops. Further elevating this product’s appearance — and premium feel — is a small swath of pebble-grain leather that’s used to attach the AirTag holder to a keychain or bag. 

As good as it looks, 928’s Metal AirTag Holder is admittedly a bit difficult to open up in order to install the tracking device — and is even more difficult to close, as it uses a threaded hardware setup that requires several elements be perfectly lined up in order for it to accept the screw. Having said that, this isn’t a huge issue considering day-to-day use will very seldom require installing or removing the actual AirTag. 

ATECH Innovation AirTag Multi-tool 7-in-1 Pro

Best Multi-Tool: This keychain/carabiner holder comes equipped with 7 tools that elevate your AirTag holder into the ultimate Swiss Army tracker. Use the bottle opener for drinks, the wrench for quick fixes, and the bike tool to check equipment. It’s made to last with stainless steel. Without any sharp edges, this item is also TSA-friendly and can be taken along when traveling. 

I really value how this product’s design allows it to house and protect an AirTag while also affording a host of additional functions. From its alloy frame to its polycarbonate AIrTag housing, the item’s construction feels solid, with the only area really leaving anything to be desired by its gate, which has a fairly flimsy feel to it. And, while it does have an opening for hanging on a keychain, the length of this item does make it a bit larger than what’s normally ideal for hanging on an EDC keychain or keyring. So, if your’e looking for an AirTag holder that brings a bit of extra functionality to the table, then look no further. 

Elevation Lab TagVault: Magnetic

Best For Vehicles: If you’re anything like me, even the thought of your beloved car or motorcycle being stolen is pretty gut-wrenching. And, while I’d personally recommend a vehicle-specific tracking device — such as the Monimoto 7 for motorcycles and the Bouncie for cars and trucks — I can’t begin to deny the immense value and added security that sticking an AirTag on a vehicle can afford. And when it comes to AirTagging your ride, there really isn’t an easier option than Elevation Lab’s TagVault: Magnetic. Measuring just 1.6″ x 1.6″ x 0.5”, this AirTag case features a glass-filled composite body that offers a generous IP68 rating — again, allowing for up to 3.3’ of submersion for 30 minutes. 

A huge part of what makes this item so easy to use is the fact that it comes loaded with ultra-potent neodymium rare earth magnets that allow it to pop onto pretty much any alloy or metallic construction — save for non-magnetic ones…obviously. Electroless nickel-plated, these magnets are more than strong enough to cling to even off-road vehicles out on the trails, while still being removable with a bit of effort. This also makes it exceedingly easy to swap the TagVault: Magnetic from vehicle to vehicle. With pricing starting from just $17 for an individual unit, these things also offer pretty great value, too. 

Moment Hard Shell Mount for AirTag

Best Stick-On Mount: Almost certainly the finest stick-on-style AirTag case currently on the market, Moment’s Hard Shell Mount is comprised of an ultra-low profile aramid fiber shell with an interior foam lining that keeps the AirTag in place and mitigates rattling. Sold with an extra adhesive strip for easy swapping, this case can be mounted on flat or slightly curved surfaces, and once it’s applied, its adhesive backing creates a watertight seal.

What really makes this model special is the fact that it offers remarkable levels of protection in a super compact and low-profile package. These capabilities are owed to the item’s shock-absorbing woven carbon construction and one-piece design, as well as its underlying impact-absorbing foam. In typical Moment fashion, the Hard Shell Mount benefits from the outfit’s usual brand of top-notch craftsmanship and fit and finish.

As much as I appreciate this item’s included carabiner, the thing can be removed, at which point the case’s lanyard loop opens up a host of additional mounting and carrying options. 

Apple AirTag FineWoven Keyring

Best Apple Case: When it comes to buying accessories and peripherals for Apple’s various tech and gadgets, you can seldom go wrong with purchasing directly from the Silocone Valley powerhouse. And such is the case with Apple’s AirTag Leather Key Ring. The original version of this item was crafted from European leather, though after repeated complaints of the thing stretching out, Apple opted to update the design, this time using a soft, yet durable micro-twill known as FineWoven. The front face of this minimalistic AirTag accessory features a stainless steel snap closure that can be opened in order to insert or remove one of the tracking devices. 

Sold with a polished split keyring and sold in multiple color options, the Apple AirTag Leather Key Ring does have a more solid and premium feel compared to most of the other similar models I tested. What’s more, while it is admittedly a bit pricier than some of the other spartan AirTag holders on this list, it still offers pretty decent bang for your buck — plus doesn’t require that you pay a very significant “Apple tax.” 

Speck AirTag Carabiner

Best Carabiner: The Speck Carabiner for AirTag is a sleeker, more design conscious take on a carabiner-style AirTag case. Sporting a polished finish, the Carabiner for AirTag is constructed entirely from aircraft-grade 6061 aluminum — save for its plastic portion that holds the actual airbag. With cutouts/openings on both sides of the AirTag holder, this carabiner is able to protect the tracking device without in any way interfering with its Ultra Wideband Technology.

Contributing to this model’s sleek appearance is a cleverly-designed installation and removal system for the actual AirTag, with the central white portion simply unscrewing and popping out. This ultimates makes for a holder that’s as secure as it is easy to use. And, while it doesn’t benefit from the same level of durability as carabiner-style holders like the Spigen Rugged Armor Keychain, this Speck product nonetheless boasts a solid feel. Having said that, I do wish its gate felt slightly more robust — especially considering its $50 price point. 

Fantom S Wallet with AirTag Holder

Best Wallet Pick: With their ultra-thin profile, proprietary card-fanning system, and aluminum or carbon fiber construction options, we’ve been big fans of Fantom’s quick-access wallets since the product’s debut in 2018. Fast forward to today, and we’re being given another reason to appreciate Fantom’s wallets, as the company has now added an optional AirTag holder, allowing you to track the RFID-protected 7-to-13-card capacity AirTag wallet — which is also offered in slim (5-10 cards) and extra-slim (4-7 cards) versions. What’s more, this wallet is also offered in a carbon fiber construction, or in an aluminum variant that’s produced in four different finishes and offered with an optional grade 5 titanium money clip which is also available in half-a-dozen color choices. 

All in all, it’s abundantly clear that the Fantom S was engineered from the ground up for everyday carry use, and I thoroughly appreciate how the company allows buyers to build out their own custom wallet using the myriad of aforementioned options. Having said that, I did notice that, when equipped with both an AirTag holder and money clip, this wallet measures in at just over an inch at its thickest point. This might not sound like much, though it’s pretty noticeable in your back pocket. And, while the 3M adhesive used to secure the wallets AirTag holder does feel super secure, I’d still very much prefer a hardware-mounted AirTag case. It also appears I’m not alone in this line of thinking as, after testing the Fantom S, the company debuted an updated AirTag holder for this fanning customizable card carrier that sees the tracker attached to the same mounting points as the money clip — an overall markedly more secure setup that no doubt does a much better job of standing up to the rigors of daily carrying.
