Red Wing’s boots are some of the most iconic workwear of all time, hailing from a true heritage label with over a century of history. While the Classic Mocs are the most popular silhouette, fans are always clamoring for Red Wing to crack the vault open and revive older silhouettes. This is a role that the Red Wing Heritage sublabel fills, and after years of clamoring for a rerelease, the Red Wing Heritage Moc Toe Oxfords are finally back.
Made in Red Wing, Minnesota, this revival is based on the original silhouette released in 1954, two years after the absolutely classic Moc Toes. Like the OGs, this updated silhouette is a low-cut variation of the Classic Mocs, boasting a white Cushion Crepe Wedge and the same iconic Traction Tred rubber outsoles. But Red Wing Heritage isn’t just breaking these out of the vault without any changes, as they’re now unlined and feature more eyelets to improve the fit. You’ll have three colorways to choose from, starting with Black Prarie featuring smooth-finished leather (seen here), Oro-Legacy with oil-tanned leather, and Hawthorne Abilene with rough-out leather. Each colorway has a white Cushion Crepe Wedge, traction Tred rubber outsoles, and Taslan round laces.
Red Wing tapped the Kentucky-based Coleman family (which has been running a shoe shop for four generations) to debut these new heritage mocs at their store, because their family values and dedication to community are perfectly in line with what Red Wing Heritage is all about – “It’s a place where customers are welcomed as family, their stories and needs taken to heart. At the time of writing, the Red Wing Heritage Moc Toe Oxfords have only received a European release priced at €329,95 (~ $357), but a US release is coming soon.
