Forged in Ventura, Iron & Resin has always made gear for people who actually use it. And the original Basin Jacket became exactly that kind of piece. A western-yoked, waxed canvas puffer that looked as good leaning against a tailgate as it did on a frigid morning commute. Now it’s back for Fall ’26, and the Basin Jacket V2 returns with one very deliberate change.
A New Yoke on an Old Favorite
Just to be clear, everything that made the original Basin work is still in tact here. The shell is a 4.5oz waxed cotton canvas that sheds weather and patinas nicely the more you abuse it. And it’s still insulated with a 3oz eco-friendly poly fill that helps traps heat close to the body without adding bulk to the mix.
The change in the new version lives up top. Iron & Resin swapped the original’s drum-dyed leather yoke for goat suede, which is softer to the touch without compromising on durability and toughness. And against the Army-green wax and cream sherpa-lined collar, that tobacco suede might be the best-looking detail on the whole jacket.
The Small Stuff Still Carries the Day
Getting in and out is handled by a Talon front zipper backed by a snap placket with brushed silver hardware, plus a snap-button neck closure for when those extra cold coastal mornings start to hit.
The brand didn’t skip on storage either. Two exterior snap pockets up front, three more inside (one zippered, one with a custom I&R snap, and a dedicated phone slot), all wrapped around a blaze orange quilted lining. There’s even a spare button sewn inside, which is a nice touch on a jacket made to last for the next few decades.
