Aimé Leon Dore and New Balance have established themselves as quite the dynamic duo in the footwear scene – ALD’s blend of prep and streetwear is the perfect match for New Balance’s established silhouettes. Following the rerelease of the regular-cut Rainier in 2022 with the help of ALD, New Balance also revived the Rainier Lows earlier this year. Now, the duo is back with yet another trio of colorful takes as part of the Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance Rainier Low Pack.
Up top, you get a Cordura upper with hairy suede overlays and debossed New Balance logos on the sides. An EVA midsole provides lightweight shock absorption, complementing the rugged rubber Vibram outsole. Leather is used to line the collar and inside of the shoe, and it’s finished with co-branding on the tongue and sock liner, along with a colorful stripe on the heel to match the laces.
Back in 2022, New Balance brought back the OG Rainier silhouette (after six years in the vault), which mountaineer Lou Whittaker wore in 1984 during his trek up Mt. Everest. Whittaker helped design the shoes in 1982, determined to create a lightweight pair of hiking boots. ALD and New Balance also teamed up in 2022 to celebrate the re-release of the silhouette, and this collab marks ALD’s first take on the low-cut version.
The Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance Rainier Low Pack is available now in brown with purple laces, grey with orange laces, and yellow with navy laces for $160. You’ll need to enter the draw to have a shot at grabbing a pair, and it closes tomorrow, December 13, at 11:59 PM ET. Each order is limited to one pair per customer, and payment won’t be captured until winners are selected.
