In 1974, Porsche unleashed the first-ever road-going turbocharged 911 variant. And with this year marking the 50th anniversary of the Stuttgart marque’s inaugural forced induction 911, world-renowned Porsche tuner and restomod outfit Singer Vehicle Design has opted to mark the occasion via the release of several new models from its turbo study.
The Basics
Following in the footsteps of Singer’s Turbo Study and Dynamics & Lightweighting Study, the elite shop’s latest turbo models are products of Singer’s Special Wishes Program and consist of the new Targa, Cabriolet, coupe, and Flatnose variants. Both these 930 turbo vehicles are constructed around a 964 chassis that comes draped in carbon fiber bodywork.
Forced-Induction Flat-Six
At the heart of Singer’s new Turbo Study models is the 3.8-liter Mezger flat-six engine. This air-cooled mill has been fitted with twin turbochargers borrowed from the 992-gen 911, ultimately allowing the flat-six to crank out 510hp — all of which is sent to the cars’ rear wheels through a manual six-speed gearbox. Interestingly, these two models will only be offered in RWD configurations and with a manual transmission.
