Somewhere in the Dutch town of Holten, a small crew has spent the better part of a decade hand-riveting mid-century inspired aluminum campers that feel more akin to furniture than traditional outdoor gear. Lume Traveler’s trailers have earned a devoted following across Europe, along with price tags that climb north of $100K at the top of the range.
It looks like the brand has decided to now go in the other direction with its smallest, lightest model yet, unveiled at Caravan Salon Düsseldorf as the 2027 Lume Ranger.

Light Enough for the Family Crossover
Let’s kick things off here with that head lining number. The Ranger weighs just 1,150 kg empty, or 2,535 pounds, which, for context, is less than a base model Honda Civic.

And obviously that’s meaningful here because it puts a genuinely luxurious travel trailer within reach of both compact SUVs and crossovers with absolutely no heavy-duty tow rig required. At just 17 feet long (including the drawbar), it’s also short enough to easily scout a good parking spot to set up shop.

The body is Lume’s signature anodized, riveted aluminum, riding on a premium single-axle AL-KO or Knott chassis with a matching aluminum tongue box for gas canisters and gear.

Pop the Top, Find a Hotel Room
In road mode the Ranger stands a squat 219 cm tall. Switch this thing into camp mode and the pop-up roof lifts to open up roughly 8.5 feet of headroom with plenty of modern amenities underneath.

We’re talking real teak flooring, wool felt walls, linen curtains, and leather details found all throughout the cabin. A fixed queen-size Auping bed spans the full width of the rear, a face-to-face dinette sits up front, and a separate toilet room provides some nice creature comforts.

The Kitchen Sleeps Under the Bed
And tather than cramming a galley inside, Lume decided to tuck a full stainless steel kitchen into a slide-out drawer beneath the bed.
Pull it out and you’ve got two PITT gas burners, a proper sink, a fridge drawer (per early coverage), and additional storage. Cooking outdoors has been a Lume signature since the beginning, so it’s nice to see they kept that intact with a smaller, more affordable model.
