Thirty years is a long time to keep doing anything, let alone racing the Isle of Man TT. It’s an event where simply lining up requires a level of nerve most of us will never be able to muster up. Of course, John McGuinness is not most of us, and has been doing it since 1996, collecting 23 wins and the course’s first-ever 130mph lap along the way. N
ow Honda UK is bottling all of that history into 15 road-legal machines, collectively known as the John McGuinness 30th Anniversary Replica CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP.

A Paint Job With a Long Memory
The livery recreates the Fireblade McGuinness raced in this year’s Senior TT, but that doesn’t really tell the whole story as that bike was itself a throwback. Its red and gold paintwork referenced the Paul Bird Motorsport Honda RS250 he rode to a best-newcomer award at his 1996 debut.

Even the green number board is period-correct, matching what the Lightweight class ran in ’96. So what you’re really looking at here is a replica of a replica.

Underneath, Business as Usual
Mechanically, Honda left the SP alone. You still get the 999cc inline-four making 214 horsepower, a swingarm derived from the RC213V-S, HRC-developed aero, semi-active Öhlins suspension, Brembo stoppers, and a titanium Akrapovič exhaust.
Each bike wears a numbered headstock plaque, GB Racing engine covers, Evotech guards, a TT-spec tall screen, and Metzeler rubber (with a set of stock tires thrown in as spares).

Your First 37¾ Miles
All 15 bikes are sold by invitation only, so the £37,730 (~$51,000) sticker is almost beside the point because Honda will have the final say in who actually gets to spend the money.

The chosen few receive their bikes at a meet-and-greet on the island itself, along with a signed KYT replica helmet, a 30th anniversary paddock stand, and a custom garage mat. And if they’re feeling brave, they can put the odometer’s first 37¾ miles on by lapping the actual TT course behind McGuinness himself.
And, just for reference, Honda’s last McGuinness tribute in 2022 ran 30 units.
