First held in 1967, the Specialty Equipment Market Association Show — better known simply as the “SEMA Show” — is an automotive trade-show event held each year in Las Vegas. Over the last decade, SEMA has not only massively grown in popularity, but it’s also become many marque’s go-to event for unveiling radical off-road concepts — one of the latest of which to break cover is Mopar’s Ram 1500-based Backcountry X.
Riding on 20” Fuel Heater wheels shod in 37” BFGoodrich tires, the concept features a slew of off-road upgrades including a Mopar 2” lift kit with FOX Factory shocks, orange-anodized tow-hooks, badges, and accent stripes, black-painted Mopar tube steps, a Mopar rear bed step, and a Mopar tubular grille guard that sports four 5” Mopar LED off-road auxiliary lights. Trimmed in neutral green upholstery contrasted via orange accent stitching, the interior of the one-off concept also boasts front bucket seats with custom embroidered Backcountry X and Mopar logos, orange-anodized air vent controls, a deployable work surface with an integrated measuring system, a concept RamVac onboard vacuum, and Mopar all-weather floor mats.
The concept also builds on the brand’s class-exclusive RamBox cargo management system, bestowing the aft-end of the vehicle with markedly more storage without compromising the functionality of the pickup bed, with the carbon fiber storage setup affording up to 12.3 cubic feet of storage space — a 68% increase over the stock system. The RamBox cargo management system has also been supplemented via a set of Thule cross rails, which now support a set of 2” TYRI LED lights and a Center High Mount Stop taillight. What’s more, the bed also benefits from a Mopar spray-in liner and a custom Mopar RamGate task-bench insert.
The Ram 1500 Backcountry X Concept will be making its official public debut tomorrow on the first day of the 2022 SEMA Show, where it will remain on display for the duration of the annual event.
