Sometimes, we’re fortunate enough to catch a glimpse of a new concept vehicle that looks like something Dominic Toretto would use to complete a heist in the Fast & Furious canon. Today’s prototype from Audi, based on their new Q6 e-tron electric SUV, would be great for catching a bad guy hiding out in some evil abandoned ski resort buried within a snowy mountain.

Audi’s Electric Revamp
As the marque makes an aggressive push towards having an electric vehicle in every segment, Audi’s Q6 e-tron is helping lead the way. Built on their new PPE (Premium Platform Electric) and said to be a reinterpretation of the Quattro, the electric SUV appeals to commuters and families alike, while its more performance-driven SQ6 has the better numbers, which just may have been tapped for this working Off-Road concept version.

Taking Audi to New Heights (Literally)
In short, the Q6 e-tron Off-Road is wider and taller, and has improved torque for climbing up to 45-degree (100%) grades, according to the brand. The magic lies in the new suspension, which features four custom portal axles, which increases torque at the wheel by 50%, as opposed to the 20 to 30% of a conventional portal axle.
Thanks to the new axles, the vehicle has a 6.3-inch taller ride height and a 9.8-inch wider track, along with big fat wheels to help you traverse these rougher terrains. The vehicle looks pretty darn cool if you ask us, but it’s what’s on the inside that counts the most here.
With a lowered top speed of just 108mph due to the off-road nature and its new drivetrain, the vehicle is also powered by a pair of electric motors with a combined 380kW output that delivers 510hp and as high as 9,883lb.ft of torque. Don’t adjust your screens, folks — those numbers are correct, albeit somewhat misleading. Audi says the nearly-10k torque can only be hit for 10-second bursts for those really tough angles.
While most press coverage has referred to this off-roader as a Q6 e-tron “concept,” CEO Gernot Döllner has used the word “prototype” in his own statements, implying that Audi is looking to implement some of this tech on a production scale at some point in the future.
