In 1963, Porsche unveiled its first-ever Gran Turismo Sport-spec model with the legendary 904 GTS. Since then, the GTS badge has come to represent extreme performance capabilities — a tradition that continues through today with the Stuttgart marque’s contemporary models, like the new and massively improved 2024 Porsche Taycan GTS.
The Basics
The 2024 model year Taycan Gran Turismo Sport gains a slew of major improvements over its prior model year predecessor, with faster charger, upgraded tech, and significantly more power on tap. In addition to its fairly extreme performance capabilities, the newest GTS-spec Taycan remains a competent all-arounder that lends itself just as well to daily driving as it does spirited canyon runs.
The Powertrain
The latest Taycan GTS features an electric motor at each axle that generates a collective 445kW (or 596hp). Thanks to a launch control and an overboost function, the Taycan GTS can deliver a maximum 515kW (690hp) and 582ft-lbs of torque. This represents an increase of 100hp over the outgoing model year.
Performance Capabilities
Thanks to having nearly 700 horses on tap, the Taycan GTS is able to deliver some truly impressive performance capabilities. The dual-motor EV model manages to clock 0-60mph runs in as little as 3.1 seconds, can deliver 1/4-mile runs in 11.1 seconds, and achieve a top speed of 155mph.
Battery & Range
The 2024 Taycan GTS boasts a gross battery capacity of 105.0 kWh and a maximum charging current of 320kW. This battery pack affords a range of around 390 miles per charge, is able to achieve a 10%-to-80% charge in as little as 18 minutes when using an 800-volt DC charging station.
