There was once a time when titanium was remarkably rare and incredibly expensive, making it suitable almost exclusively for use in government military projects — like in the construction of fighter jets. Now, however, it’s a lot more widely available, a bit less pricey, and can be found in a wide variety of consumer products. Perhaps its best application, however, has been in the world of everyday carry.
What makes titanium unique as a material is its combination of high-tensile strength paired with a relatively light weight. For reference, titanium is about half as heavy as steel but offers up slightly greater strength. This is an especially enticing prospect when it comes to, say, wallets. Pared into a cash and card carriers, titanium makes for a superbly easy-to-carry wallet with a much greater strength-to-weight ratio and lifespan than other traditional materials (we’re looking at you, leather). To illustrate this point, we’ve put together the following list of the 12 best titanium wallets.
Vargo Titanium Money Clip
If semantics are your thing, then this money clip technically isn’t a wallet. It does, however, hold whatever cash and cards you put into it, so it qualifies for us. It helps, too, that it’s made using non-magnetic high-grade titanium. On top of carrying a handful of cards and/or cash, it will last you pretty much forever. That’s doubly true when you consider that titanium is so strong, it will never lose tensile strength — keeping it from stretching out like other materials might.
Capacity: 2+ cards
Weight: 0.3 oz
American Bench Craft The Caliber Clip Wallet
Somewhere between a money clip and a minimalist wallet, American Bench Craft’s Caliber is remarkably handsome for how pared-down it is. This is thanks in large part to its clean stitch-free riveted construction and its unique combination of titanium and full-grain vegetable-tanned leather. Better still, it’s also made by hand here in the USA, can carry up to four cards plus cash, and comes with a lifetime guarantee.
Capacity: 3-4 cards
Weight: 1.6 oz
Spine Titanium Minimalist Wallet
As slim as a single credit card, the Spine titanium minimalist wallet might just be the ultimate in pared-down cash and card carrying. Despite its super slim size, however, it can still hold up to 10 cards and/or bills, offers RFID-blocking protection, is made in the USA, and includes an integrated bottle opener. It’s also rustproof and corrosion-resistant, which is handy for longterm usage. Best of all, even if you’ve got the wallet loaded up, you can still use the bottle opener without having to take all your cards out of it.
Capacity: 1-10 cards
Weight: 0.7 oz
Ti2 Design Titanium Wallet
The brainchild of industrial designer, Mike Bond, Ti2 design makes some of the absolute best titanium everyday carry gear available. Needless to say, his take on a minimalist titanium wallet is no exception. Built from a solid single piece of Grade 5 titanium, this ultra-minimalist cash and card carrier is corrosion-resistant, remarkably lightweight (just 25 grams in total), will never lose its spring, and can carry 5+ cards, cash, business cards, receipts, or whatever else you’d normally keep in your overly-bulky bifold wallet.
Capacity: 5+ cards
Weight: 0.9 oz
Machine Era Ti5 Titanium Slim Wallet
If we have one complaint about titanium as a construction material, it’s that it tends to be a little one-dimensional from a style standpoint. Most of the time, if gear is made from titanium, it’s gray. And that’s just one of the reasons we love Machine Era’s Ti5 titanium slim wallet — it comes in that signature titanium gray but it’s also available in black and (our personal favorite) gold PVD. It’s also made here in the USA, has a capacity of up to seven cards, offers RFID protection, and has a combination thumb slot/bottle opener. For as simple and minimalist as it is, this wallet has a lot to offer.
Capacity: 1-7 cards
Weight: 0.6 oz
DMC Titanium Money Clip
Laser cut from a single piece of solid titanium, the DMC titanium money clip is both unique in its minimalist styling and remarkably secure. With its springy money clip, it can hold up to eight cards and cash, features a handsome brushed finish, and was made right here in the USA. It can also be used on its own or combined with Decadent Minimalist’s DM1 wallet (of any size) for a more complete and unified wallet. However, either is excellent on its own.
Capacity: 1-8 cards
Weight: 1.6 oz
Obstructures A3 Titanium Wallet
Built from three plates of bead-blasted titanium, the Obstructures A3 titanium wallet is certainly one of the most unique options on the market. But it isn’t just a design — the form serves some very helpful purposes. For instance, the plates act as protectors to the cards inside, including keeping your information safe from would-be RFID skimmers. It also allows for dual-compartment organization, which is great for separating cards you use frequently from those you hardly ever need. And it features a built-in bottle opener, which is an unnecessary but welcome addition.
Capacity: 3+ cards
Weight: 3.4 oz
Silo Mesh Card
If cutting down on literally all unnecessary bulk is at the top of your list of requirements for a titanium wallet, then the Silo Mesh Card should be at the top of your list. Not only does it weigh less than half an ounce, but it still features an eight-card capacity, RFID-blocking technology built right in, and looks both unique and handsome. The makers of this ultra-minimalist cash and card carrier even built in a super handy bottle opener for when you want to crack open a cold beer with the guys.
Capacity: 1-8 cards
Weight: 0.42 oz
The Ridge Titanium Wallet
There’s a pretty good argument to be made for the Ridge being the greatest minimalist wallet of all time. At the very least, it’s in the top five. And, wouldn’t you know it, they offer it in titanium. Available in a number of different colors (our favorite being the ‘Burnt’ colorway), this super slick-looking cash and card carrier is available with your choice of a money clip or cash strap, can hold up to 12 cards, has RFID-blocking tech built right in, features completely replaceable hardware (and even comes with a Torx driver), and still weighs just 2.5 ounces.
Capacity: 1-12 cards
Weight: 2.5 oz
E.O.S. Cases Titanium 2.0 Wallet
For those who appreciate a more rugged and industrial aesthetic, the E.O.S. Cases Titanium 2.0 Wallet should definitely be on your radar. With a form that looks something like an actual bank vault you can fit into your pocket, this bad boy weighs a hefty three ounces — though it could certainly still qualify as a front-pocket wallet. It also has, by far, the largest capacity on our list, clocking in at a possible 20 cards. We’re not sure what kind of international Bond-esque super-villain needs 20 credit cards, but the possibility remains.
Capacity: 1-20 cards
Weight: 3 oz
DM1 Titanium Wallet
If you’ve pared your carry down to a very specific number of cards and ultra-simplicity is what you seek, you’ll do no better than the DM1 titanium wallet. Acting like a card sleeve, this wallet comes with a four, eight, or 12-card capacity (though we’d certainly suggest no more or less in any of them). It also boasts a scratch-resistant coating and can be combined with the brand’s DMC money clip for a complete setup.
Capacity: 4, 8, or 12 cards
Weight: 0.7, 1.06, or 1.41 oz
Dango D02 Titanium Tactical Bifold Wallet
If the Ridge hasn’t claimed the throne of best minimalist wallet, it’s because Dango exists. The tactical foil to The Ridge’s sleek urban styling, this masterfully-designed wallet features a ruggedized and frankly gorgeous combination of titanium and top-grain leather. It can also hold up to 16 cards, has an integrated cash strap, blocks RFID, and comes with a 14+ function multi-tool stainless steel insert. Best of all, with the multi-tool removed, this stunning TSA-compliant wallet still has an integrated bottle opener.
Capacity: 1-16 cards
Weight: 4.3 oz
