When it comes to the renovation and restoration of any classic vehicle, purists everywhere often dismiss the thought of adding non-original parts to some of the world’s most historic models. Iowa’s Schlabaugh Brother’s obviously didn’t get that memo, piecing together a handsome 1964 Porsche 356 SC GT that utilizes a plethora of salvaged peripherals — and boy, did it change our perception of an “all-original” rebuild.

The original 1.8-liter, 912-type SC GT was immensely rare and was built as a lightweight counterpart to the cars progenitor, the Porsche 356. Only six were ever made and, with every iteration of the flat-four powered vehicle being sold in the United States, it was clear that the ‘64 was destined for an All-American hotrod treatment. The SC in question is an “Outlaw” inspired tribute which was built from the ground up utilizing a pair of 356 GT alloy doors and a salvaged SC shell from somewhere in California. Alongside the foundation of the car, the brothers implemented a slew of one-off parts, from a louvered rear apron and 356 sunroof clip, all the way to a center-fill racing-style fuel door and beige leather interior. The immaculately kept vehicle is being auctioned off via RM Sotheby’s, and is expected to fetch around $200,000.

Purchase: $200,000+
