Getting a new commission out of Singer Vehicle Design requires two things, a spare seven figures and the patience of a monk. All 99 slots in the DLS Turbo program were spoken for almost immediately, which means the only way to get one these days is the second-hand market. This summer at Goodwood, where Singer served as the Festival of Speed’s first-ever boutique Central Feature marque, one of them actually did. Fresh off the hillclimb, the Firefly Commission is now officially up for grabs.

A Rare Case of Singer Seller’s Remorse
The UK-based owner commissioned Firefly as a replacement for his naturally aspirated Singer DLS, fully intending to move the older car along once the Turbo arrived.

Then delivery day came, and he realized he was too attached to the original to let it go. So it looks like the brand-new one is getting the boot instead. Completed back in November 2025, Firefly has covered just 1,294 miles, and its résumé already includes this summer’s Festival of Speed. An event where Rob Dickinson and the Duke of Richmond personally selected it for Singer’s Central Feature display before test driver Marino Franchitti ripped it up the hill.

The 934/5, Resurrected at 9,000 RPM
As for what those miles felt like, the DLS Turbo is Singer’s homage to Porsche’s brutal 934/5 endurance racers. The 964’s M64 flat-six gets stretched to 3.8 liters and treated to water-cooled heads and twin turbos, producing 710 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque while revving past 9,000 rpm. It’s a pretty ridiculous setup, especially for anything that’s air-cooled.

Power’s pumped to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual, and the setup is good for a sub-3-second run to 60 and a 218-mph top speed.

Two Wardrobes, One Tangerine
Firefly is one of roughly 10 right-hand-drive DLS Turbos, finished in Solid Tangerine over matching orange leather, and its owner ordered both the road and track body configurations. Swap the front fascia and rear decklid, and the car can transform from (relatively) discreet ducktail tourer into the full box-winged track monster pictured here.

Singer even supplies bespoke flight cases for whichever outfit isn’t being worn. The carbon fiber body rides on 19- and 20-inch forged magnesium centerlocks, and the whole thing has been wrapped in protective film since day one.
