Sought out as a means to liven the dull Toyota brand at the time, the 2000GT was a benchmark build for the brand – designed in larger part by Yamaha during the 1960s. Now, seen here is arguably one of the most collectible 2000GTs in existence today. Thanks in part to its ultra-rare nature (one of two ever built) and the fact that none other than Sean Connery himself was the wheelman for this ride in You Only Live Twice.
As far a value is concerned, it’s hard to gauge the exact worth of this automobile – not that it matters as it’s not for sale. At any rate, though, all the bells and whistles are in apparent mint condition on the specialty-built roofless roadster (rumor has it Connery couldn’t fit in the hardtop version due to his 6’2” stature) from the sleek black leather interior to the 150 bhp inline-6 cylinder engine. Now on display as part of the Roots of Monozukuri exhibit at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles.
