Zodiac Continues 140th Anniversary with a Ceramic Super Sea Wolf Diver

When you’re 140 years old, you can commemorate the accomplishment however you’d like. For American watchmaker Zodiac, it’s been spending the year putting new materials on its flagship Super Sea Wolf diver. It first swapped the steel case for a titanium one a few months back and has now tried something new by subbing in ceramic for the timepiece’s housing.

Although it debuted in the watch world in the ‘80s, ceramic has gotten a lot of love in recent years for its resistance to scratches, corrosion, and fading, allowing your watch to hold its visual integrity much longer. For its Super Sea Wolf Ceramic, Zodiac maintained a sturdy 316L stainless steel core underneath the high-polished black ceramic outside, giving the wearer the best of both worlds.

Boasting 200m of water resistance, the 40mm case encompasses an attractive deep blue sunburst dial with lumed white accents and houses a Swiss-made STP 1-11 automatic movement with a date window. As an added curiosity, the Italian rubber strap (which looks great, by the way) is vanilla-scented.

Zodiac is only making 500 of these Super Sea Wolf Ceramic watches, which are on sale now from the company’s website for $1,695.
