Since its debut in 1979, Piaget’s Polo has been known for its versatility. Able to swing from sports watch to dress watch with ease, the Polo line has also shown some fluctuation within the model’s range.
The Swiss luxury watchmaker has now released its Polo Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin, featuring a 42mm stainless steel case and a green grooved dial. At 4mm by itself, the caliber 1255P automatic movement powers the three calendar subdials on the face, which will maintain accuracy until the year 2100, as well as the moon phase display at the 6 o’clock spot.
While the 8.65mm timepiece is actually four times wider than the brand’s once-record-holding 2mm Altiplano Ultimate Concept, it’s still remarkably slimmer than most watches on the market. However, what’s perhaps more notable is that this is the first perpetual calendar in the Polo line prior to 2016, when it was revamped. Likewise, the new Polo also introduces the brand’s SingleTouch interchangeable band system, which allows you to swap the stainless steel bracelet for the rubber strap. The Polo has long been one of the icons of integrated bracelet timepieces, so this innovation is definitely significant.
Not limited in release, the Polo Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin will be available soon from Piaget for $58,500.
