To fix all that, Mode Designs has created The Sonnet, a customizable keyboard that will target your specific preferences when living a life of perennial typing.
From acoustics to key weight, The Sonnet can be tailored to fit you, the user. Choose from among seven different plate materials, each with a different feel and sound. Additionally, the isolated top mount option is perfect for open-sounding, bouncier typing, while the addition of plate foam or a silicon base allows for a more muted sound with less bounciness. There are also seven colorway options for the keyboard base finish, each made from high-quality aluminum material that’s made to last.
There are millions of different pairings from which to select when tailoring your keyboard. However, no matter how you stylize your custom typer, the end result will boast Mode’s smooth surfaces and high-quality construction just like we saw with the brand’s last keyboard, Eighty, but this time paired with the classic-looking silhouette of The Sonnet. The weights and bottoms are all made from stainless steel, brass, copper, and polycarbonate, which allow for better flexibility when curating your own setup. The modular construction is easy to assemble and reconfigure if desired later on.
The Sonnet is compatible with Mac, Windows, and Linux operating systems and is customizable through either QMK or VIA firmware. Pre-orders begin April 29 on Mode Designs’ website, and each keyboard is made to order starting at $299.
