At some point, the flashlight world collectively decided that brightness wars were the new horsepower wars. Naturally, Olight has been throwing haymakers ever since. And anyone who knows Olight, knows the Marauder family is where the brand goes to flex its lumen muscle. Oddly enough, the last full-size entry (the 14,000-lumen Marauder 2) was released all the way back in 2020. Six years is an eternity in LED land, and Olight is making up for lost time with the all-new Marauder 3.
A Kilometer of Reach From a Water Bottle
A ring of 16 LEDs pumps out an absolutely insame 25,000 lumens of floodlight, matching the output of Olight’s much larger X9R in a body about half the size.
Flick the three-position switch and a single center emitter takes over, firing a 1,500-lumen, 250,000-candela spot beam 1,000 meters down range. That’s a full kilometer of reach from something roughly the size of a Nalgene bottle, and you can run both channels at once if your heart desires.
An “Automotive-Grade” Heart
The real story is inside, where Olight fitted a single 46950 lithium-ion cell, the oversized cylindrical format the car industry has been chasing (hence the brand’s “automotive-grade” branding). The payoff is 31,900mAh onboard, more than double the Marauder 2’s entire three-cell pack.
In its dimmest Moonlight setting, the spotlight will run for a claimed 14 months. And the 30W bidirectional USB-C port means it moonlights as a backup battery, with enough capacity to refill an iPhone 17 Pro six times. Even the included lanyard is secretly a charging cable.
A Flashlight With a Dashboard
Olight also claims an industry first with the Marauder 3’s capacitive touch unlock. Rest a thumb on the rotary dial and it wakes in one motion, though the traditional 90-degree twist remains for gloved hands.
Below that, a laser micro-perforated display counts down remaining runtime in real time as you adjust brightness. Just mind the warning indicator up top, because at full tilt the bezel gets hot enough to earn its own warning light. And at 840 grams (nearly two pounds), it’s probably not going to be best choice for everyday carry.
