It’s no secret that workwear has broken out of blue-collar territory and into the world of fashion, but it’s also well known at this point that the heritage brands still do it best. Some of these brands have recognized the growing popularity of workwear and started dedicated, fashion-forward sub-labels to cater to this newfound audience (think Carhartt with WIP). Even still, there’s something about the vintage gear that’s unique and hard to replicate unless it’s a truly classic brand pulling it off. Wolverine has done just that with the 1000 Mile 140th Anniversary Boots, a recreation of the original 1914 boots to celebrate the label’s 140th anniversary.
Construction-wise, these limited-edition boots are just as rugged as the OGs, with design choices referencing the shoe’s 1914 model, like the use of Horween leather in a color that mimics the look of the horsehide the boots were originally built with, and the old-school logo patch on the tongue. They’re Goodyear Welted to ensure durability, and on the bottom, you get a leather outsole and a Vibram heel. The boots are finished with antique brass hardware, and debossed details by way of a “Wolverine 1000 Mile” stamp on the collar and “Since 1883” on the sole and lining.
The history of the 1000 Mile Boots goes back over a century (dating back to 1914), and they’ve maintained their status as one of Wolverine’s most popular boots. And even though it was designed to look similar to the 1914 version, Wolverine has done a good job at modernizing the silhouette at the same time (details like the red stitching are a great example).
The Wolverine 1000 Mile 140th Anniversary Boots are available now for $415, but keep in mind that it’s only for a limited time, so jump on them now if you’re interested.
