When it comes to streetwear, there are a few countries that have a significant presence in the scene. The UK is undoubtedly one of them – the grey aesthetic, industrial spaces, and cold weather seems to be a big reason for the style’s success across the pond. Stone Island is perhaps the perfect embodiment of classic streetwear (or techwear, gorp-core, etc.), and even though it’s an Italian brand, there’s no denying the love the label receives over in the UK. If Stone Island is the quintessential streetwear brand, then it’s safe to say that New Balance is the quintessential casual-wear brand, and the label’s running shoes receive a similar amount of love in the UK as well (especially the New Balance Made in UK lineup). This duo has collaborated before, notably in 2022 on a pair of 574s, and now they’re back with the Stone Island x New Balance Made in UK 991v2s, a moody redesign of a classic silhouette.

Inspired by dark and brooding industrial spaces (popular among the UK rave scene and underground club scene in general), these sneakers are Stone Islands’ take on the classic New Balance silhouette. The shoes feature textured leather foxing and reflective accents for a futuristic slant – and to drive the industrial look home, the mesh upper has this metal lattice-style design with a nubuck overlay. You’re also getting co-branded details and some custom packaging to mark yet another successful collab between these two legendary labels.

At the time of writing, it looks like these are only coming in a single colorway featuring olive green, grey, and black. You can check out which stores near you will be carrying them through Stone Island’s site.
The Stone Island x New Balance Made in UK 991v2s will be available starting on October 4th through Stone Island’s site, and October 18th through New Balance’s site, along with select Stone Island stores.
