Red Wing & GORE-TEX Collab on a Membrane-Equipped Classic Moc Boot

Since its introduction in 1952, Red Wing’s Classic Moc has stood as one of the most revered and well-respected work boots in existence, as well as one of the brand’s all-time best-selling shoes. With a near-perfect design, the boots have gone almost entirely unchanged since their debut, but now for the first time in the model’s almost 70-year history, Red Wing has opted to treat the unfailing piece of footwear to a major upgrade in the form of a Red Wing Heritage Classic Moc that’s been bestowed with a full GORE-TEX membrane.

Born out of a collaboration between GORE-TEX and the Minnesota boot-maker, this forthcoming limited-edition version of the 6” Classic Moc maintains all of the features and highlights present on the regular version including being built on Red Wing’s 1950s era no. 23 Last, as well as sporting genuine Goodyear leather welt construction and nickel eyelets. Made in America, the new membrane-equipped model can also be resoled, practically guaranteeing a lifetime of use. With its advanced waterproof and breathable membrane hidden away in the boot’s lining, the GORE-TEX-spec Classic Moc looks nearly identical to the standard shoe, prompting Red Wing to give the modernized heritage boot an exclusive oxblood colorway.

Available only with a 6″ height, the Red Wing Heritage x GORE-TEX 6″ Classic Moc is slated for a release in Europe and North America later this fall. Produced in limited numbers, the GORE-TEX version of the Classic Moc will be priced at $340 — only $60 more than the standard Classic Moc.
