Whether you refer to it as the “Duck tail” or something else is your decision, but there’s no understating just how vital this sports car is to automotive lore, which is why PUMA is collaborating with the Stuttgart marque to put a Carrera-inspired spin on its own in the Suede sneaker.
The PUMA x Porsche Suede RS 2.7 is a seamless embodiment of the beloved sports car. As far as details are concerned, it features a graphic insole, a Porsche-embellished tongue tag, it says RS 2.7 at the back heel, and it also features some script on the side, akin to the car’s famed “Carrera” branding. When accounting for its history, it’s only right that an array of stylish colorways dress up PUMA’s timeless shoe. The new release comes available in 10 different colorways, including the pictured red/white look that’s arguably most identified with the iconic car.
Upon development, Porsche built a mere 500 examples of this 70s-era Carrera, as each model had sold out in a matter of weeks. Befittingly enough, each of the ten colorways in this joint effort will be limited to 500 pairs per color. And while you may think that may make them easier to obtain, remember that the sneaker market doesn’t do anybody any favors. Additionally, the shoe serves as a valid entry ticket to the Porsche Museum in 2022.
While pulling up to your garage in a 911 Carrera RS 2.7 might be a bit of a stretch, you can surely walk up to it in this sleek tribute. The PUMA x Porsche Suede RS 2.7 is available now for $175 — and they’re going about as fast as their namesake.
