The Crocs Dylan Clog Is a Subtle Mule-Inspired Shoe

American footwear brand Crocs has had quite an interesting journey in the fashion industry. Founded in 2002, the company began with the goal of creating foam shoes meant to be worn on boats. These first iterations were built to float in the water and prevent slipping while still keeping your feet comfortable. But the company had a financially rocky start, even though the novelty of these unique foam clogs was appreciated by the general population (remember all the Jibbitz people used to have?). After years of volatility and struggling to establish an identity, something interesting happened – Crocs became cool. In 2017, designer Christopher Kane had models wearing the shoe on the runway, something that nobody saw coming (especially Crocs). Since then, and especially over the pandemic as more people were hanging at home, the brand has done a complete 180. Much of this success was achieved and maintained through notable collaborations, with shoes from Justin Beiber, Post Malone, and even KFC, to name a few. And now Crocs has released the Dylan Clog, a subtle silhouette with the comfort we love from the originals.

These clogs were designed to imitate full-grain leather mules, a silhouette that’s been around for quite some time. This look is achieved through a texture made to look like animal hide, along with a heel that’s been made deeper, so your ankle is still supported without having the strap (sorry, no sport mode on these). You can wear these like normal Crocs, but they’re definitely more versatile thanks to the simple look.

The Dylan Clog is constructed with the brand’s bio-based Croslite material, something Crocs began implementing in 2021 as a part of its initiative to become a net zero company by 2030.
