Everyone has a reason to celebrate MAR10 Day, and Red Wing is no different. Working alongside Nintendo and Illumination, the storied bootmaker crafted a meticulous one-off pair to celebrate Super Mario’s upcoming big-screen appearance, and they’re red-carpet ready.

The brand’s veteran craftspeople used sturdy natural leather to “translate every on-screen pixel” into a physical pair of stompers. Moreover, Mario’s Boots boast a reinforced toe box and ridiculously round heel, staying as true to character as possible. The one-of-one pair also features slip-resistant treads so he can avoid slipping, although something fully waterproof would’ve been preferable, considering the guy always finds himself underwater. Somehow, that’s not even the best part. Red Wing tacked on state-of-the-art heel pads made of mushroom-based mycelium — that’s what you call attention to detail.

Of course, this is admittedly hilarious, but it’s hard to deny that these look surprisingly nice for what they are; that said, we expect no less from Red Wing. With MSCHF’s Astro Boy-inspired silhouette practically breaking the internet last month, it’s only fitting to see a real-life pair taking after the world’s most famous plumber. That said, it certainly raises a few questions about what we can expect to see in the world of footwear. Seriously, who’s next? Mickey or SpongeBob?

No, you cannot have Mario’s Boots. Luckily, you can take a deeper look at their construction on Red Wing’s website as you wait for the movie to come out.
