New Balance Expands its MADE in USA Line with Two Pairs of 990s

New Balance’s MADE in USA line is a form of abidance to its heritage and high-quality pieces, and its creative director Teddy Santis is no stranger to either. While the Aimé Leon Dore founder is well-known for churning out a gluttony of New Balance collabs, the designer is taking things one step further by expanding the American-made collection.

The two sneakers at hand include the original 990 and the pictured 990v3, both of which have undergone an exceedingly stylish overhaul. The former has been around since 1982 and has accumulated its own ethos in the fashion community, which can’t be said about too many other running shoes. For the sake of the new line, the MADE in USA 990 boasts a whirlwind of textures, with an upper composed of hairy suede, pigskin suede, meth, and leather. It sits on a traditional ENCAP midsole for lightweight cushioning and all-day wearability.

Moving on to the certifiably more popular of these two designs, the 990v3 is highlighted by its superior construction and use of sturdier materials. Shedding both types of suede, the enhanced sneaker is based around a nubuck-and-mesh upper and features an NDurance rubber outsole for optimized durability, ensuring they are built to last. Each design features a similar color palette based around forest green, light brown, and beige. On top of the shoes, the capsule features a hoodie and an array of t-shirts, each composed in the heart of the states.
