Amsterdam-based e-bike company, VanMoof, looks to do away with those very limitations by creating an e-bike that’s capable of reaching legitimate cruising speeds. They plan on breaking those boundaries with their newly-announced hyperbike, the VanMoof V.
VanMoof made their intentions for their new e-bike clear in their announcement as they seek to “redefine city mobility for good” and exceeding the people’s expectations of what e-bikes are capable of. The VanMoof V plans to achieve those loft goals by featuring a dual-motor configuration capable of reaching a top speed of 31 mph. It even has a turbo boost button, which explains how the pedal-assisted e-bike will be capable of reaching and sustaining speeds above 30 mph. Furthermore, the VanMoof V posits itself as a heavy-duty city bike with features like thick tires, full front and rear suspension, and a durable aluminum frame. Furthermore, the VanMoof bike boasts the same cutting-edge tech that made their bikes famous in the first place like their automated gears and a Kick Lock, which is a keyless locking feature that frees riders from having to lug around cumbersome bike locks.
Powering this slick engineering marvel is a robust 700 Wh internal battery, which will have more than enough juice to power commuters to their destinations. The VanMoof V sports the same slick, straight, and elegant bodywork as its slower counterparts, and if it is able to actualize its ambition, this new offering will most definitely set a new standard for what e-bikes are capable of. You can reserve a spot on the waitlist for $20 and expect the VanMoof V to cost around $3,598 once it gets released — although a final price hasn’t been settled on as of yet.
