Back in late 2023, it was announced that British race squad and engineering firm TWR would soon be revived in order to produce a modern-day restomod of the Jaguar XJS. And after being shown off as a digital render back in April, TWR has finally pulled the cover off the final production-ready Supercar Jaguar XJS restomod.
The Basics
Born out of a collaboration between TWR, famed Porsche tuner Magnus Walker, and legendary automotive concept artist Khyzyl Saleem, the Supercat is a contemporary supercar dressed up in the restyled bodywork from Jaguar’s legendary XJS. Made on a built-to-order basis, the vehicle combines contemporary performance and hardware with the timeless appearance of the XJS — albeit the donor has been treated to some modern tweaks and aero elements.
The Bodywork
Penned by the “Kyza,” the TWR Supercat wears a full suite of aero-equipped bodywork complete with huge fender flares, a massive front splitter, side skirts culminating in side-exiting mufflers, a vented hood, an enormous rear diffuser, and a small split rear wing. The entire body is also brought to life in lightweight carbon fiber. Thanks to the generous use of carbon fiber, the entire restomod weighs in at under 3,600lbs — roughly 400lbs lighter than the original XJS, despite more than 7” wider considerably wider at 77.75” (versus the original XJS’ 70.6” width).
Under The Hood
Powering the new TWR restomod is a supercharged 5.6-liter V12 engine that comes bolted to a six-speed manual transmission and a plated limited slip differential. This high-revving V12 now cranks out a cool 660hp and 538.4ft-lbs of torque.
Running Gear
Constructed around a steel monocoque chassis with carbon reinforcements throughout, the XJS has been updated with a generous slew of contemporary components. This includes vented six-piston carbon-ceramic brakes backed by 12-level adjustable ABS, as well as a set of TWR forged monoblock wheels with 18” rims up front and 19” hoops out back — replacing the original XJS’ 15” alloy items. The suspension is comprised of a double wishbone setup up front and a muti-link unit out back — both of which benefit from the use of active dynamics.
Modern-Day Upgrades
The TWR Supercat restomod has also been bestowed with a host of smaller modern elements, from LED lighting to tire pressure monitoring to launch control. The thing also comes loaded with five independent drive modes, plus five-level programmable traction control.
The Cabin
Moving inside the car, the Supercat restomod boasts a bespoke interior that features carbon fiber-backed leather seats, a steering wheel with switchgear for adjusting suspension and steering settings, and a fully digitized multimedia interface that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
