With just about every auto manufacturer under the sun looking to protect us from its increasingly-trapped heat, electric concepts have spread across the space like wildfire. Now, adding to an already wide collection of them is Toyota, who recently unveiled a bevy of glistening new EVs in a recent briefing. While all are noteworthy from an eco-perspective, a pickup that looks a whole lot like it could be the first fully-electric Tacoma really stole the show.
Looking to appeal to off-roaders, Toyota has veered off the metropolitan streets with the unveiling of its Pickup EV and Compact Cruiser EV. While the latter has not garnered any particular details yet, as the same applies to all other eleven models, it boasts a strikingly similar look to its iconic FJ Cruiser, an SUV that hasn’t seen the light of day since its discontinuation back in 2014. As far as the Pickup EV is concerned, the sleek, futuristic 4×4 will look to rival a handful of other trucks that parallel its qualities on the market, namely Ford’s upcoming F-150 Lightning. With these two tailored to fit any terrain, models like the residential-friendly bZ SDN and polished SPORTS EV go to show that Toyota will be taking this new electric direction as seriously as any other make around. Although no specs have been provided for any of the vehicles, photos should suffice in the meantime.
While the distant future may appear closer than it is after seeing such an onslaught of concepts, we reckon you hold your horses. By 2030, Toyota looks to deliver a befittingly whopping 30 new electric models around the world, and we’re curious to see how many of these concepts ultimately make the cut.
