The Nürburgring Turns 100 and Porsche Answered With a 502-HP Green Hell GT3

There’s not a single racetrack woven into Porsche’s DNA quite like the Nürburgring. The brand first raced there all the way back in 1953 with the 550 Spyder, and that was followed up by Stefan Bellof laying down his untouchable 6:11 lap in a 956 back in1983. These days, every modern GT car gets beaten senseless on the Nordschleife before it’s allowed anywhere near a customer.

And now with the circuit’s 100th anniversary arriving in 2027, Porsche is throwing the party early with the 911 GT3 100 Jahre Nürburgring.

Dressed for the Green Hell

Buyers pick between White, the classic blank-canvas racing shade, or GT Silver Metallic pulled from Porsche’s Cup cars. Whichever route you choose, both the nose and tail wear green wrap, which is a nod to Sir Jackie Stewart’s “Green Hell” nickname. It also serves double duty as paint protection film.

There’s some period logic behind it too, since factory teams once marked their cars this way to tell them apart mid-race. Elsewhere you’ll find California Gold forged wheels, green tow lugs, gold Porsche script under the wing, and Nürburgring track outlines on the endplates.

Our favorite touch, though, has to be the race number. Owners choose anything from 0 to 999, rendered in a hand-drawn font inspired by the graffiti covering the Nordschleife’s tarmac.

Kerbs, Graffiti, and a Walnut Shift Knob

The car’s theme carries all the way to the interior, where the door sills light up with “Welcome to the Green Hell” and LED projectors cast the track outline onto the ground. The dash stitching mimics the circuit’s kerbing, the roll cage is painted green, and the mode button reads “Grüne Hölle.”

Underneath all of these details, it’s still the same GT3 we know and love. That meansa naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six revving to 9,000 rpm with 502 horsepower, all sent to the rear wheels through PDK or a six-speed manual (one that’s wearing a walnut shift knob borrowed from the Carrera T).

The Manthey Catch

The optional color-matched Manthey Kit adds revised suspension, upgraded brakes, and aero kit helps generate190 pounds of downforce at 177 mph. DTM champ Ayhancan Güven used one to rip off a 6:50.853 Nordschleife lap.
