Back in 2017, Porsche announced their Manufaktur package, offering numerous cosmetic enhancement options geared toward optimizing the owner’s driving experience, many of which predicated on prior emblematic models. Now, fellow German manufacturers, Mercedes-Benz, has developed their own customization label that offers much of the same, right down to its name: MANUFAKTUR. The luxury brand’s latest announcement also brings an end to their program’s previous moniker, designo.
The bespoke service is said to further their existing portfolio through interior design, paintwork, and fine upholstery. With a plethora of quality Nappa leather options to choose from, many of the MANUFAKTUR label’s most impressive features are their eye-striking interior color offerings, rehashing some of their most vividly decedent from former models. For example, their MANUFAKTUR Pastel Yellow/Black Exclusive mirrors that of the S-Class-tier option which hasn’t been available since 2012, while the iconic Gullwing’s fossilized graphite grey appears to be an option as well. Having not made an appearance since the 1960s, this is a big deal. Aside from its wide array of colors, the two-toned MANUFAKTUR Leather Steering Wheel is a gorgeous piece of equipment that operates as well as it presents itself, adding yet another refined element implemented in their latest set of additional possibilities.
Although there’s no concrete time window, the German luxury automakers seek to provide MANUFAKTUR options for more models in the coming years. But, in the meantime, all those mentioned and more will be available for the CLS, S-Class, GT-4 Door-Coupe, and, as expected, the Maybach S-Class. Matte, metallic, non-metallic, Mercedes is dishing it out in every way imaginable, but the power lies with the owners, here.
