Utility terrain vehicles, commonly known as UTVs, are the workhorses of the 4×4 world. Though they’re similar in aesthetic to ATVs, UTVs are more powerful and faster, while also offering more seating and storage area than their nimbler, recreational counterparts. While they’re more utilitarian in nature, UTVs can certainly retain the same level of fun that other recreational vehicles are known for. Case in point, the custom ice cream truck that UTV parts manufacturer Draco UTV made for 4×4 giant Polaris.
The Polaris Ice Cream Truck almost looks too fun at first glance. It’s an amalgamation of the rugged toughness typical of UTV design and the joyous childhood innocence that’s associated with ice cream trucks. In short, it’s adorably awesome. Made to transport ice cream for patrons at the Mint 400 show, the Polaris Ice Cream Truck is the ultimate dessert delivery vehicle. The folks at Draco UTV flexed their creative muscles when coming up with the design for this rough-and-tumble ice cream truck, converting one of their beds into a mobile freezing unit capable of tackling difficult terrains. Draco UTV employed one of their new utility bed designs, which was built in collaboration with Stryker MFG Co. It features three separate compartments that hold three refrigerated coolers, which are powered by two Polaris generators.
Design-wise, the Polaris Ice Cream Truck sports a retro color scheme of white-over-mint, which is also a cheeky nod to the name of the show for which it was made. Moreover, the Polaris Ice Cream Truck sports a cool, custom lightbar featuring seven blacked-out KC-style ice cream cone lights, which adds a fun stylistic contrast to the aggressive Polaris grille. Just like all ice cream trucks, the Polaris Ice Cream Truck comes outfitted with a set of speakers in its bed to blast the ice cream songs we all knew and loved as children. Though it’s most likely to remain a one-off, here’s to hoping we see more rad ice cream trucks like this in the future.
