There’s just something ironic about the world’s largest oil exporter making its automotive debut with a battery-powered wedge car. And yet, here we are. Bankrolled by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund and formed as a joint venture with Foxconn back in 2022, Ceer has spent the past four years promising the kingdom’s first homegrown production car. That promise has finally taken shape, in both sedan and SUV form, as the Ceer Exobot.
Penned by a McLaren Alum
Obviously, Ceer wasn’t going to hire just any Joe Schmoe to dream up its first vehicle. Rob Melville spent 13 years at McLaren shaping the 720S, Senna, and Artura before jumping ship, and the Exobot SUV’s low-slung wedge profile carries over that same supercar DNA.
Each one is outfitted with high-tech Shahin Wing Doors, falcon-inspired gullwings stretching nearly 10 feet with no B-pillar between them. Up front, Ceer claims the 2.4-meter windshield, raked at a windswept 15 degrees, is the single largest windshield that’s ever been fitted to a production car.
Each light bar also houses 32 individual segments, which is a nice nod to 1932 (the year Saudi Arabia was unified).
A Powertrain Supergroup
Rimac will build the rear drive unit, while Hyundai Transys handles the front motors. Foxconn will be responsible for the platform, and all of it will be developed under component technology licensed from BMW.
The launch-spec First Edition puts down 850HP and 738 lb-ft through three motors, good for a 2.9-second sprint to 62 mph. There’s also a 1,111HP version set to debut later, dropping that to 2.4 seconds. A 112kWh pack delivers 348 miles of NEDC range, while the 800V architecture handles a 10-80% charge in under 30 minutes.
Built for 120-Degree Summers
Inside, a 48-inch 8K “Digital Horizon” display spans pillar to pillar above a steering yoke with full steer-by-wire. The lower door glass even switches between transparent and opaque electronically.
Seeing where this SUV was born, it should come as no surprise that it’s sporting some serious desert proofing including triple silver-coated glass and a monster HVAC system that can bring down cabin temps from 149°F to 90°F in just 10 minutes.

Ceer hasn’t put a number on the Exobot SUV yet, though production kicks off at King Abdullah Economic City in January 2027 with deliveries following in March. It’s homologated for Gulf markets only, launching first as a limited First Edition before the customizable Plus trim arrives.
