Bentley has been teasing an EV since the Beyond100 plan dropped all the way back in 2020, but the goalposts have been moving quite a few times since those initial teasers. The all-electric-by-2030 pledge that kickstarted a lot of these announcements slid back to 2035, the W12 got its final send-off, and the lineup decided to go hybrid in the meantime. But now, 107 years into building cars, Crewe has finally committed a battery to production. Say hello to the Bentley Torcal, the brand’s first EV and its fourth model line.
The Most Powerful Bentley Ever Skips the Engine
With Launch Control engaged, the Torcal S puts down a ridiculous 876 horsepower alongside 996 lb-ft of torque, which we might add, makes it the most powerful production Bentley in the company’s history. That setup is good for 60 mph in 2.8 seconds and a 162-mph top end, while the standard car makes do with 810 horsepower and a 3.3-second sprint.
Engineers could’ve gone quicker, but deliberately left something on the table because anything faster than this starts to get uncomfortable for passengers. And while there are a few neck-snapping 2-second EVs on the market, Bentley decided to show a bit more restraint here.
Crewe’s First Magic Carpet Without Anti-Roll Bars
Underneath sits a 113-kWh battery on an 800-volt architecture, and shares its bones with the Porsche Cayenne Electric in the same VW Group family. Bentley claims up to 375 miles of WLTP range and 400-kW charging that takes the pack from 10 to 80 percent in as little as 16 minutes, with roughly 100 miles of that recovered in just seven minutes.
As impressive as all of that is, the chassis might be the bigger story here. The Torcal is the first Bentley with fully active suspension, ditching anti-roll bars entirely, and standard rear-wheel steering shrinks the turning circle to 11.1 meters. Which is not too shabby for a 5-meter SUV.
A V8 Soundtrack, Performed by Actual Humans
Rather than piping in a fake engine note, Bentley did the very Bentley thing here, and hired musicians to recreate the rhythm of its old 6¾-liter V8 using drums, a viola, and a bass guitar. The resulting Dynamic Symphony swells with speed and torque demand, and if you don’t like it, you can easily shut it off altogether. The turn signal is even a recording of a hammer striking leather in the upholstery shop.
The cabin keeps its physical knurled controls and debuts the world’s first 100% Merino wool automotive fabric, woven with Somerset’s Fox Brothers. There’s also Ombré Walnut trim built from up to 1,000 layers of walnut offcuts.

Bentley hasn’t published official pricing yet, though UK figures are expected to start at £173,300 (~$230,000) for the standard Torcal and £199,300 for the S. First deliveries kick off in the second quarter of 2027, with the Torcal reaching the States as a 2028 model.
