Founded in 2012 by a pair of engineers, FCR Original is a renowned custom motorcycle shop with a proven track record of churning out insanely clean one-off bikes and custom build series with an unmistakable factory-level finish. And while FCR undeniably produces world-class builds, the French firm typically takes a less is more approach, employing a number of modifications that, while often small, are incredibly transformative when pieced together. The latest one-off work to follow this MO is FCR Original’s new BMW R nineT-based Nomad.
Based on BMW’s Urban G/S-spec R9T, the Nomad is a limited-build series that puts an old-school spin on the already retro-inspired donor. The shop has bestowed the BMW with a host of one-off components along with a handful of items from FCR’s in-house catalog of parts. This includes a headlight grille, a custom battery tray, custom passenger peg supports, and a custom hooped subframe that now supports a shorter — but still two-up friendly — bespoke brown leather saddle. Tidying up the space beneath the seat is also a custom set of mini tracker-style side number boards.
On top of receiving an airbox delete that’s been coupled with the addition of a set of pod filters, the donor’s air and oil-cooled 1,170cc Boxer twin has also been treated to a new breastplate cover, finned cylinder head covers, and FCR’s own stainless steel Street Bobber full exhaust system — all of which have been fully blacked-out. The Nomad’s finishing touch comes in the form of a deep forest green livery that’s contrasted via creme-colored sections on the side number boards and the tank’s knee dents.
One of five models offered by the French shop, the FCR Original BMW R nineT Nomad is currently for sale, with pricing and additional information available upon request. FCR is also selling several of the in-house parts used in the build, including its battery tray, complete exhaust system, and headlight grille, just to name a few.
