In 2017, Renault relaunched Alpine alongside a new version of the iconic A110. The gas-powered model helped garner interest in the French marque’s revival, but the new chapter of its legacy sees something more in tune with an eco-friendly future.
Named after the red glow made on the horizon opposite the sun, the Alpenglow concept is a hydrogen-powered hypercar that’s designed to inform what’s next for the company, both on the road and on the track. Alpine has unveiled the single-seater vehicle, featuring a center-positioned cockpit that sits with a hydrogen tank on either side, which power the internal-combustion hydrogen engine in the rear of the car. No exact performance specs have been unveiled as of yet.
The Le Mans endurance racing-inspired steering wheel comes equipped with transparent and backlit paddle shifters, along with an Overtake power boost button and two selectors at the base which employ the Track Control and Regenerative Braking features. The futuristic, recycled carbon exterior sports an array of sci-fi-looking lights, including the stardust-like headlamp and the blue steam-venting taillights.
