When Riccardo Quaggio founded Totem Automobili out of the Venice area in 2018, the pitch was simple and a little audacious: take the sacred silhouette of the Alfa Romeo Giulia GT and rebuild it from the ground up as something entirely new. The company kept roughly 10% of each donor car but everything else got reimagined. Six years and seventeen builds later, Totem has delivered car number eighteen, and this one came with a name: Zeal01.

Commission Impossible
The Zeal01 is a one-off GT Electric commissioned by a client based in California. But rather than opting for Totem’s fire-breathing twin-turbo V6 (which puts out 739 hp in GT Super trim, for context), this buyer went full electric.

The result is a rear-wheel-drive machine drawing from the same 590 hp, 81 kWh powertrain that underpins the GT Electric lineup, capable of hitting 60 mph in 2.9 seconds, delivering 664lb.ft of torque, and covering up to 311 miles on a charge. The battery is wrapped in a honeycomb aluminum housing to keep weight close to 3,300lbs, and DC fast-charging via CCS is on board.

Pervinca, Please
The most immediately striking thing about Zeal01 isn’t the powertrain, it’s the paint. The client requested a triple-layer metallic Azzurro Pervinca finish, a warm and color-shifting periwinkle blue. Satin gold accents run across the headlight surrounds, the triangular Scudetto grille, wing mirrors, door surrounds, and even the windshield wipers. Brembo calipers in blue with gold lettering sit behind a set of matching wheels.

The Interior That Steals the Show
Inside, Totem did something they hadn’t done on a GT Electric before: went two-tone. Medium blue and cream Nappa leather covers the Sabelt carbon-fiber seat bolsters, while the seating surfaces themselves use a bespoke pied-de-poule (houndstooth) fabric developed specifically for this car with a Florentine artisan workshop.
Blue NOS carpeting, quilted door panels, custom gauges with satin gold surrounds, a leather headliner with custom stitching, and a three-spoke steering wheel in blue leather round things out. The suspension, tuned in collaboration with ORAM out of Como, offers independent front and rear adjustment for both comfort and handling.
