There’s a school of thought in the performance SUV world that says the best special editions don’t reinvent the wheel but just give you the right wheel in the right color. Range Rover seems to agree. The 2026 Range Rover Sport SV Ultimate Edition is a U.K.-exclusive, 500-unit limited run built around a the return of Velocity Blue Gloss, the same shade that launched the original Sport SVR back in 2015 and became one of the more iconic paint options the brand has ever put to metal. It never made it onto the current SV, until now.

A Little History Goes a Long Way
To understand why Velocity Blue carries this much weight, you have to go back to that 2015 debut. The Sport SVR was the first vehicle to ever carry the SVR badge, rolling out of Land Rover’s newly formed Special Vehicle Operations division with a supercharged 5.0-liter Jaguar V8 producing 550 hp, quad tailpipes, and a Nürburgring lap time that put it in the same conversation as the VW Golf R. It was a serious machine dressed in a color that announced itself from two blocks away. That blue wasn’t subtle, and it wasn’t supposed to be.

The current Sport SV, introduced for 2024 on the third-generation L461 platform, is objectively the more capable car. The BMW-sourced twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 paired with a mild-hybrid system produces 626 hp and 553 lb.ft of torque, cutting the 0-60 time down to 3.7 seconds versus the original SVR’s 4.5, while top speed climbs to 180 mph. The 6D Dynamics suspension (a hydraulically interlinked system Range Rover calls a world-first) practically eliminates pitch and roll around corners, which is impressive for a vehicle of this size. In short, the SVR’s spiritual successor doesn’t need help in the performance department.

What the Ultimate Edition Actually Adds
The changes for the Ultimate Edition is cosmetic rather than mechanical, featuring three exclusive SV Ultra Metallic finishes: the aforementioned Velocity Blue Gloss, Obsidian Black Satin, and Ethereal Frost Satin. All 500 cars come spec’d with 23-inch forged wheels in Dark Grey or Black, Brembo calipers in Blue or Black, a Black Contrast Roof with sliding panoramic glass, and a Light Cloud/Ebony perforated Windsor leather interior. Range Rover U.K. Brand Director Alan Nicolson described it as “color, material, and chassis technology working together.”

The ownership experience gets a bump too. Every buyer receives a personal handover at the Range Rover Studio in Solihull along with an exclusive track experience. Getting time on track in a 626-hp SUV with rear-wheel steering is a sweet selling point.
