Honda has built over half a billion motorcycles since 1949, and in that time, they’ve built exactly zero full-size electric ones. Well, it looks like that’s all about to change.
After a decade of watching LiveWire, Zero, and Energica fight over a tiny niche, the world’s largest motorcycle manufacturer has rolled its first proper EV bike into European dealers. It’s called the WN7 (that’s “Wind Naked 7” in Honda-speak), and it’s a very Honda way of going electric. And by that, we mean it’s measured, deliberate, and sure to cause quite a stir.

Modest Numbers, On Purpose
At first glance, the spec sheet isn’t really much to look at. Peak output is 67 horsepower with 73.8 lb-ft of torque, good for an 80-mph top speed, and the whole thing weighs a rather chunky 478 pounds. Honda claims the torque delivery feels closer to a liter bike thanks to instant electric shove.

Honda has a claimed range of just 87 miles, and naturally, riders are already grumbling. The popular sentiment across forums was that buyers were hoping for north of 100 miles, so on paper, the WN7 definitely falls short.

But here’s Honda’s counterpunch. The WN7 uses the same CCS2 fast-charging standard as electric cars, taking the 9.3kWh battery from 20 to 80% in about 30 minutes. There’s no proprietary hardware, and no hunting for motorcycle-specific plugs. There’s literally tens of thousands of existing car chargers already dotting Europe riders can just plug right into. And a 6kVA home wall box handles a full charge in just under three hours.

A Battery You Can Bolt a Bike To
Structurally, this thing is also pretty clever. There’s no traditional frame; the aluminum-cased battery serves as the stressed member, with everything else hanging off it.

The naked streetfighter bodywork rides on 43mm Showa USD forks and a single-sided swingarm, which is a nod to Honda’s own Pro-Arm heritage dating back to the RC30. Nissin brakes with cornering ABS, a belt final drive, four ride modes, a 5-inch TFT, and a walking mode with reverse round out the package.
