A few years ago, BMW figured that there’s a market for drivers who want the high performance standards of their M3 packed into a station wagon for doing, you know, station wagon things. And thus, the M3 Touring was born.

But now, the German marque has leveled things up a bit with the new CS-spec (an acronym for “Competition Sport”) version of the M3 Touring sports wagon, and it’ll get you to the grocery store even more efficiently than before.

Fast For the Whole Family

Under the hood, BMW uses the same twin-turbo 3.0-liter inline six engine that delivers 543hp — a 20-hp increase thanks to the higher turbo boost pressure — and 479lb.ft of torque. Bringing you 0 to 60 in 3.5 seconds with a 186-mph top speed, the engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic, which lets you choose from three shift characteristics. The vehicle also features an M-specific exhaust system with electrically-controlled flaps, a titanium rear silencer, and two pairs of matte-black tailpipes.

A Lighter Build

To bolster performance, BMW has optimized the body rigidity of the M3 CS Touring and given it exclusive carbon fiber components. Carrying over the chassis from before, the vehicle does utilize the lightweight material in the front splitter, front air intakes, bonnet, exterior mirror caps, and rear diffuser.

Likewise, the inside sports M Carbon bucket seats and carbon fiber for the steering wheel paddles, interior trim strips, and center console. About 33lbs lighter than the M3 Competition Touring with M xDrive, the CS-spec version has an optional front end strut brace for the engine compartment.

Available in four colors — British Racing Green, Laguna Seca Blue, Frozen Solid White, and Sapphire Black Metallic — the M3 CS Touring also gets yellow LED headlights inspired by the GT race cars from BMW.
