Despite a somewhat unassuming outward appearance, those in the know are well aware of the immense performance capabilities offered by Audi’s RS 6 Avant, with the twin-turbo sport wagon cranking out over 600hp and offering supercar-esque 0-60mph runs of less than 3.5 seconds. Even though it already offers incredible performance prowess, Audi is now giving its most discerning — and performance-obsessed — cliental the option to acquire an even more extreme version of the car with the new limited-edition Audi RS 6 Avant GT.

The GT-spec RS model takes ample inspiration from both Audi’s RS 6 GTO concept from 2020 and the Four Ring’s 90 quattro IMSA GTO race car from 1989. Benefitting from a slew of upgrades and tweaks both inside and out, the RS 6 Avant GT sports a pass-through roof edge spoiler, a redesigned diffuser, new integrated air outlets, a fully redesigned carbon fiber hood, a tweaked front splitter, and a new intake grille. Riding on a GT-exclusive set of 22” six-spoke wheels shod in Continental “Sport Contact 7” tires, the RS 6 Avant GT1 is offered in two IMSA-inspired livery options. Inside, the limited edition Audi has been fitted with RS bucket seats trimmed in a leather-Dinamica combination with red and copper accents and full crimson red seatbelts, plus has received armrests, headrests, and the floor mats with “RS 6 GT” lettering.

The high-performance hot hatch’s powertrain goes largely unchanged from the existing RS 6 Avant — which is by no means a bad thing, as the twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter TFSI V8 cranks out an impressive 621hp and 627ft-lbs of torque, allowing for 0-60mph runs in 3.3 seconds and a top speed 190mph. Mated to a standard eight-speed Tiptronic gearbox, the engine sends it power to a newly-optimized version of Audi’s quattro permanent all-wheel drive system. The car also comes equipped with the entire RS design package plus as standard. Other hardware upgrades include Audi’s RS ceramic brake system, adjustable coilover suspension coming as standard, triple-adjustable dampers, stiffer stabilizers, and a sport differential on the rear axle that’s been specially tuned for the RS 6 Avant GT1. Unlike the regular RS 6 Avant which is manufactured at the brand’s Neckarsulm plant, the limited run of GT-spec models are individually hand-assembled at Audi’s Böllinger Höfe facility, which is where Audi’s R8, e-tron GT quattro, and RS e-tron GT are built in small-series production.
