We’ve said it before and we’ll keep saying it. Nobody on Earth builds a prettier Alfa Romeo than Totem Automobili. The Italian outfit’s carbon-bodied Giulia GT restomods have been a fixture around these parts for years, and their latest commission delivers yet again.
Meet chassis No. 32, the Totem GT Super “Litorale Brado,” unveiled and delivered to its owner at The Quail during Monterey Car Week.
The “Stealth” Brief
The client’s ask was simple on paper. Build a Totem with an almost “stealth” character, all while still keeping it elegant. The result is Big Sur Green, a bespoke triple-layer metallic developed specifically for this car and paired with satin gunmetal trim inside and out.
For the first time on a GT Series build, that gunmetal finish carries over to the two-tone wheels. Smoked glass and a hand-painted Tricolore on the side skirts and engine plenum round out the exterior.
Built for a Woodworker
Now, here’s where it gets good. The owner is a passionate amateur woodworker, so Totem CNC-machined an entirely bespoke steering wheel from Wengé and Maple, finished it by hand, and carved a matching gear knob to boot.
The cabin also debuts Totem’s new carbon fiber and titanium steering-column stalk assembly, with part of the mechanism left deliberately exposed. And in a really rad aviation-inspired touch, several switches have been relocated to an overhead console in the headliner. Relic-finish leather and textiles from Limonta, an Italian mill dating to 1893, wrap up the rest of the interior.
Gloria, Gloria
Underneath all that gorgeous work sits the same absurd hardware as every GT Super. Totem’s Italtecnica-developed 2.8-liter twin-turbo V6 sends either 591 or 739 horsepower to the rear wheels through a gated six-speed manual, in a carbon-monocoque car weighing around 2,600 pounds.
This one also gets an electronically valved Capristo exhaust, which lets the owner keep it audibly “stealthy” if they so choose.
