As today’s auto manufacturers continue to prepare for a shift to an all-electric future, we’ve unsurprisingly seen a growing number of electric drive systems integrated into new and existing hybrid models. One such brand is Porsche, which has steadily been expanding its range of hybrid models — the latest of which to break cover is the new and massively improved Cayenne S E-Hybrid luxury SUV.
Offered in SUV and SUV Coupé variants, the S E-Hybrid-spec marks the third electrified offering in the SUV range and slots in between the tamer Cayenne E-Hybrid and the range-topping 729-hp Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid. Powering the Cayenne S E-Hybrid is a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 that makes around 350hp and 370ft-lbs of torque. Paired with the mono-turbo V6 is a 130-kW electric motor that produces an additional 174hp — bringing the Cayenne S E-Hybrid’s total output up to 512hp and 553ft-lbs. These figures ultimately allow the 5,300lb SUV to clock 0-60mph runs in 4.4 seconds, achieve a top speed of 163mph, and pull off quarter mile runs from a complete standstill in 13 seconds flat — making it one of the quickest SUVs in production.
Thanks to the addition of a battery with a capacity of 25.9 kWh, the SUV is able to deliver an all-electric range of 56 miles. The use of a new on-board AC also allows the whole system to achieve a complete recharge in less than two and a half hours. This high-end trim level also gains a host of premium features as standard such as the Cayenne S’ 20” wheels, a dual twin-pipe exhaust setup with brushed steel tailpipes, and matrix LED headlights. This new and improved SUV also comes loaded with a new Air suspension setup with two-chamber, two-valve technology, also as standard. The Cayenne S E-Hybrid also gains the Silver exterior package as standard while the Coupé version has been bestowed with the Black exterior package. Completing the package is a revised interior that comes loaded with even more tech.
The 2024 Porsche Cayenne S E-Hybrid is available for order now with pricing starting at $99,100. Deliveries for this 2024 model year SUV are expected to begin in November of 2023.
