With over 575hp on tap, a top speed just shy of 200mph, and a 0-60mph time of only 3.1 seconds, the Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe is an incredibly capable pure driver’s car that makes up for its lack of practicality and storage space with its raw performance prowess. In a bid to deliver a vehicle with the same performance capabilities and raw visceral driving experience as the “AMGT” in a more practical package, Mercedes-AMG introduced the GT 4-door coupé — a model that’s just been revised and updated for its latest model year.

Just like with previous iterations of the 4-door model, the 2024 model year is offered in the base model GT 63 4MATIC+ 4‑door coupé trim and the even higher-performance GT 63 S 4MATIC+ 4‑door coupé. Both cars benefit from a revised front-end design with a larger central air inlet set below an AMG-specific radiator trim that’s noticeably wider, and new vertical air ducks that have been integrated into the outside of the car’s front apron. Beneath its muscular-looking hood, both vehicles pack a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 plug-in hybrid engine that comes mated to an AMG Speedshift MCT 9G nine-speed transmission. The GT 63 4MATIC+ 4-door coupé’s powertrain puts down a collective 585hp and 590ft-lbs of torque while the more high-end S-spec generates 639hp and 663.8ft-lbs — horsepower and torque figures that allow for 0-60mph runs in 3.4 seconds and 3.2 seconds, respectively.

In addition to AMG RIDE CONTROL+ air suspension with adaptive adjustable damping, the latest version of AMG’s saloonified GT also comes loaded with fully variable AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive, active rear axle steering, an electronically-controlled rear axle locking differential, MULTIBEAM LED main headlights, an electric sunroof, and the brand’s EASY‑PACK tailgate — all of which come as standard. A Burmester surround sound system is also now a standard amenity, though it can still be upgraded to an even more premium 3D surround system from the same high-end German audio brand. In typical AMG fashion, this revised 4-door model is also being offered with an enormous host of available factory upgrade options and packages including the AMG Aerodynamics Package, AMG Carbon Exterior Package, AMG Night Exterior Package 1 and 2, AMG Performance seats, and special MANUFAKTUR livery options, just to name a few.
