Initially produced from 1969 through 1995, the Chevrolet Blazer was a full-size sport utility vehicle that was revived as an all-new crossover model in 2019. While the new Blazer failed to generate the same level of hype as Ford’s revived Bronco model, the Chevy crossover nonetheless remains an important car in the marque’s current lineup. And though Chevrolet already offers four different trim levels, the company has now revealed that it will soon be expanding the Blazer range to include a sleek new fully electric model.
Representing an even more significant departure from its full-sized predecessor, the upcoming Blazer EV will see the existing model range’s 228-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter engine or available 308-hp 3.6-liter V6 swapped out for an unspecified fully-electric powertrain. On top of sporting a markedly lower stance, the EV-spec also features a completely revised bodywork design with a markedly more futuristic and aggressive appearance that includes an all-new front fascia and grille setup, partially integrated side skirts, all-LED lighting, an illuminated Chevy badge, and new cut-out details just aft of the front wheels.
Chevy has yet to reveal any exact specs or performance figures for the forthcoming all-electric Blazer, though, between the battery-powered crossover’s wide-diameter six-arm split-spoke sport, wheels, more aggressive bodywork design, and SS badging, we’re confident the Blazer EV will afford a balanced combination of luxury and performance — or at the very least be offered in a high-performance SS trim level.
The all-new 2024 Chevy Blazer EV is slated for an official unveiling next month on July 18, at which time pricing, availability, and full specs will presumably be revealed. The electric crossover is then expected to be available beginning in the spring of 2023.
